For my birthday this year, I got the best gift –  a night out with the hubby.   (Yes, my birthday was last month, but I’m just getting around to talking about it because having two kids means that most days the hubby and I are running around like mad and then suddenly it’s 10:00 pm and we collapse into bed because in less than 6 hours we have to do it all again).  My parents volunteered to stay with both babies so that we could run out and grab some dinner.

After much hemming and hawing, the hubby and I settled on Wild Olive, an Italian restaurant on John’s Island.  We’d heard good things and have been meaning to check it out for awhile.  My favorite dish was the special of the night, a pork ragu with handmade penne.

Before heading out, the hubby also got a strawberries and cream cake from Ashley Bakery near our house (note the little finger about to do serious damage in the photo above).  The Gravy Baby and I love strawberry cake, and this one was just about the best we’ve ever had — moist, light and chock full of fresh strawberries.
