Cookbook Club Ch. 10: The Lee Brothers Southern Cookbook

Looking for potluck ideas?  Try a cookbook club!

At the end of last month our little London Cookbook Club gathered at my house for another great meeting. This time, we reviewed The Lee Brothers Southern Cookbook by Matt and Ted Lee. This cookbook is one that’s close to my heart, as it’s a great guide to cooking the food I grew up around. Plus, I’ll take any excuse to fry up some chicken!

Our Cookbook Club is now on its 10th potluck, and we’re still going strong. We have a group of around 20 regulars who show up devotedly with a few dishes in tow, and everyone in our group loves food on a deep, deep level. Members frequently present their dishes to rounds of applause. That’s how this crowd rolls.

For this meeting, our spread had a little bit of everything, from classic Mint Juleps made with freshly-infused mint simple syrup to varieties of deviled eggs that disappeared within minutes. If you’re looking for potluck ideas and ways to make hosting a gathering simple, choosing a cookbook that everyone brings dishes from is a great way to make sure your potluck has a theme.

For our next cookbook club, we’ll be sampling dishes from Rachel Koo’s My Little Paris Kitchen.  It’s a gorgeous cookbook with modern twists on classic French dishes.  Plus, all of the dishes are meant to be made in a little kitchen, which suits our London folks just fine.
