little plate of happiness: sweet potato benedict

spbgac1

Over the weekend we met an old friend at Three Little Birds, a cafe in our neck of the woods.  One day, I’ll show you its quaint, vine-covered exterior; its warm, Americana-styled interior; and how the entire Gravy Family has been enchanted by the place.  But for now, let me just show you the dish that’s created our catchphrase this week: “SWEET POTATO BENEDICT!”

What exactly is a sweet potato benedict?  Why, it’s two perfectly poached eggs perched on top of a flaky, delicious sweet potato biscuit.  It’s lightly pan-seared slices of Southern ham.  It’s a delicate Hollandaise drizzled on top.  It’s cheesy stone-ground grits puddled around the biscuits, soaking them ever-so-slightly like a good sauce.

It is, on a plate, the embodiment of a good Sunday brunch with friends and family.  That’s why, all week, as the weather has gotten colder, the hubby and I have been warming each other with those kind words:

Sweet.  Potato.  Benedict.

Prior to commencing work, a contractor has a limited opportunity to gain familiarity with site conditions. But as the contractor performs the work, the contractor becomes very knowledgeable about the site. The contractor may discover features of the site which call into question aspects of the owner’s design. To what extent does the contractor have a duty to alert the owner to possible shortcomings
