I know that if I were in the United States right now, I’d be pretty thrilled at the prospect of having a white Christmas. I’d be bundled up in my Snuggie, drinking hot cocoa, and watching A Christmas Story on cable.
But I’m not. Instead, I am waiting for three of our dearest friends to travel halfway around the world to visit the hubby and me. We have been dreaming about and planning this reunion since the day we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. For the last week, we have been beside ourselves with excitement at seeing familiar faces. And then … and then … the largest snowstorm since the 1960s has hit the DC metropolitan area.
Right now, we have one friend still in transit, one friend stranded, and one friend whose original plan fortunately doesn’t have him leaving until later this week. In the meantime, I’m sending good, safe travel thoughts to them, and to everyone else who has been stranded by the storm.
To our friends who are struggling so mightily to come visit us — I’ll have the curry puffs waiting for you whenever you do get here!
