The turmeric-heavy chicken curry at Caribbean Corner is fall-off-the-bone worth it
My next installment of Global-ish, the column I’m writing for Northern Virginia magazine, is about Caribbean Corner in Fairfax, Virginia. Visiting Caribbean Corner was kind of like accidentally walking into Fight Club. We weren’t sure what we were stepping into or what the rules were (order at the makeshift cash register/counter; the wall menu was sparse both in words and descriptions; the cashier/chef took our order and disappeared for like, 6 minutes). The food, however, was so worth it.
In the spirit of full disclosure, Ge Ge was not on his game the day we went. He’s usually up for trying anything new, but he especially likes what he calls “fancy white tablecloth places.” Caribbean Corner was absolutely the opposite of that. We “wrastled” (do you use that word? Where I’m from, it can mean wrestling, but with words or a concept) with him to convince him that the food was so, so amazing. We knew it to be true not only because we were eating it but because Meimei is usually more resistant to our food adventures and she was scooping up the curry by the handful and smearing it all over her face. When you read my post over at Northern Virginia Magazine, you’ll find out what ended up happening.
He’s a lucky one, that Ge Ge.
In any event, read more about it here.
