We’re pretty much business as usual over here, visiting Costco, shuttling the kids to various lessons and generally being the good suburbanites that we are. Meanwhile, Ge Ge, our little food critic, has gotten a little bit of publicity as a result of the Northern Virginia Magazine’s dueling critics’ review that went live online a couple of weeks ago. As he says, “I’m famous on Facebook.” It’s all Facebook to him.
First, DC Eater and the Washington City Paper (in its District Line e-newsletter) linked to the review. Then, Washington Post dining editor Holley Simmons tweeted this about him:
There was also a third piece in the March issue of Northern Virginia Magazine where Ge Ge reviewed a sushi restaurant in Falls Church that recently went online. To “write” this review, I made videos of him talking about the restaurant on my iPhone and then later transcribed bits of what he said into a written review. He was insistent that I make sure everyone knew that the food got “100 stars.” DC Eater has also picked up this review and linked to it here.
Then, last week my friends over at Charleston Grit republished the blog post I wrote about the five essential kitchen items recommended by a chef (check out the original post here and the Grit version here). The folks over at The Coastal Cupboard, my favorite Charleston kitchen store, are really nice people. I’m glad to see them get more local love.
I absolutely love making this blog for the creative outlet it gives me, but one of the best consequences is that I’ve had some really fun opportunities along the way. Thanks to Northern Virginia Magazine, Charleston Grit and all of the friendly faces I’ve met in between. You make my heart sing and my belly full. Literally.
