a non-labor day

Happy (American) Labor Day!  The hubby and I kicked off the day with wishful thinking that perhaps today would, fittingly, be the day I went into labor with The Gravy Baby (the actual due date is the 25th of this month).  We’d heard that eating pineapples, mangoes and papaya can naturally induce contractions, so yesterday we picked up a pineapple from the market.

Well, it’s been almost 6 hours since I ate the entire thing in one sitting, and other than feeling full of fruit and slightly kicky, it doesn’t look like today will be our “Labor” Day after all.  We’ve also heard that a pound of black licorice, spicy food, and yes, even this eggplant parmesan recipe can work wonders.  What other foods (i.e., old wives’ tales) have you heard can work on making the baby come?  I’ll try it all!

(Actually, except for the licorice.  Blech.)

I Googled it — very interesting. Will have to try it if I make it past the due date!
