The food options in Kuala Lumpur are so vast and incredible that we’re hard pressed to ever repeat a dish, much less a dish from the same restaurant. These steamed egg custard buns, however, are truly exceptional, and so we’ve had them twice in the last two weeks. The egg yolk is salted and then sweetened with condensed milk. The buns arrive, fresh off the stove, in a steamer basket. As you tear the bun apart, custard oozes out alluringly over your plate, and you end up saving the last little bit of your bun to wipe the plate clean of custard. It’s a sensual, wonderful experience.
Total cost: RM 9, or $2.50 USD for three.

That thing makes my face water.
[Pouring down mouth-water.]
It really is that good.
