I’m f-iiiiiiiiii-nally getting around to sorting through our photos from our spring break. We went on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, just the four of us, which turned out to be exactly what the doctor ordered. It was great to take a break from our daily routine, which usually involves work, logistics and cleaning up, and just enjoy each other’s company for a few days.
Since we’ve been back, I’ve tried to get Ge Ge to tell me what his favorite part was. “Was it the time we swam with dolphins? Or maybe you liked the tacos?” I ask.
“No, mama. I loved all of it. It was ALL my favorite.”

Meimei is a little more specific. “I love the sand and the water and my pink swimsuit,” she says every time I ask her to reminisce with me about our trip.
We spent some time at Chankanaab Park, a beach park not far from where our ship was docked. Before we arrived, the hubby and I were worried that the park would feel too touristy, but after some really close encounters with wildlife, including this lazy iguana and a couple of intrepid pelicans, we were in love.
Ge Ge, however, was not as thrilled by the parrots. This was as close as he would get and as big of a smile as he could muster. “I’m super worried about these sharp claws,” he kept saying.
Meimei, on the other hand, loved posing for photos by herself. We’d get a group shot, and then she’d wave her hands to scoot the others out of the frame. “Now just get a photo of me on this temple,” she’d say.
Of course, no temple could come close to the outdoor showers at the park. We spent nearly 20 minutes just letting her push the button to turn the shower on, and watching while she giggled and splashed in it.
See that grin? Yup, it was totally worth it.
