The purple pointer above shows where Kuala Lumpur is located, and the red one is on top of Padang, Indonesia. Technologggyyy…
Thanks to everyone who has checked in with the hubby and me over the past day. We’re doing fine — we were in Padang last week, but have been safely back in Kuala Lumpur for several days now. I hear from some people around town here in KL that some buildings were evacuated yesterday, but the hubby and I were chowing down in a basement food court and didn’t feel a thing.
I did, however, check in with everyone at Cubadak Island, where we were last week, and received this response from Dominique, the manager at Paradiso Village:
We are doing very fine on the island, a big and long shake but as usual, our buildings do not suffer the tremors. Unfortunately the situation is more serious in Padang and we are still waiting for direct news from there, impossible to make a phone connection for the moment!
In other news, our belongings from the U.S. are finally arriving here tomorrow after three months of transport across the Pacific Ocean! Is it inappropriate to hug cardboard boxes? Because even if it is, I will.

Glad to hear that you both are safe and the trip looked wonderful and interesting!
Thanks for the well wishes, guys!
Thank sweet Hallelujah. My boss is traveling to Bali soon and when I was getting all the earthquake news and travel advisories I thought, “Sweet baby Jesus – Ann and Gerry!” Glad to hear you are well.
